Scrap My Car

We buy scrap cars anywhere in the UK and pay on weight rather than condition, so a car that has not started in years is still worth real money. Enter your registration and postcode above for a guaranteed quote, and we will arrange free collection wherever you are, pay by bank transfer, and send a Certificate of Destruction from a licensed treatment facility.

Why weight decides your price

A scrap car is bought as recoverable material, not as a vehicle. Once it reaches an Authorised Treatment Facility it is depolluted and broken down into steel, aluminium and other metals, sold on by the tonne. A heavier car yields more material, so weight is the honest basis for a price, and it is why a non-runner with a blown engine is often worth close to what the same model would fetch running.

That is also why we do not ask about condition before quoting. Tell us the registration and postcode, and the figure that comes back reflects what the vehicle is actually worth as metal, not a guess based on how it sounds over the phone.

Where we collect

Collection is free anywhere in the UK, from major cities to rural addresses that other buyers turn away. We cover London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast, along with every city and town in between. The full list of areas we serve is in the footer below.

Access that puts other buyers off is routine for us: cars with no keys, vehicles that have not moved in years, narrow terraced streets, steep hills, rural single-track lanes and properties without off-street parking are all things we deal with every day.

What you need to sell

Two things: the V5C logbook, and photographic ID matching the registered keeper's address. That is the whole list. No MOT, no tax, no insurance, and the car does not need to start, steer or roll. If the V5C has been lost, apply to the DVLA for a replacement before booking, as it saves time later.

Getting paid

Payment is by bank transfer, at or before collection, at the price already agreed. No legitimate buyer anywhere in the UK will offer you cash for a scrap vehicle, and an operator who does is one to walk away from. Once the car has gone, notify the DVLA that it has been sold for scrap; until you do, you remain the registered keeper and liable for it.

Your Certificate of Destruction

Every vehicle we collect goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, which issues a Certificate of Destruction within seven days. This is the legal proof that your car has been permanently removed from the road and that responsibility for it has ended. Keep it safe; it is what protects you if the registration is ever misused.

Common questions

How is my quote worked out?

From your vehicle's kerb weight and the current scrap steel price, applied consistently regardless of where in the UK you are. Condition has very little bearing, since the car is being bought as material rather than as something to drive away.

Do you cover Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

Yes, the whole of the UK. The process is the same everywhere - a guaranteed quote, free collection, payment by bank transfer and a Certificate of Destruction - though the specific law governing scrap metal payments differs slightly between England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

What if my car cannot be driven onto the truck?

That is normal, not a problem. Our collection agents bring winches, skates and low-loaders as needed for vehicles that will not start, will not roll, or are stuck on soft ground. Mention the situation when you book so the right equipment is sent.

Is there any cost to me for collection?

No. Collection is free everywhere we cover, regardless of distance, access difficulty or how long the vehicle has been off the road. The quote you are given is the amount you receive, with nothing deducted for collection.
